OUR HISTORY

The Carbine Club of New Zealand was established in 1971. The club’s name honours Carbine (1885–1914). Carbine was a champion New Zealand-bred thoroughbred racehorse who won 30 principal races in New Zealand and Australia. He was very popular with racing fans, and sporting commentators of the day praised him for his gameness, versatility, stamina and weight-carrying ability, as well as for his speed. He was one of five inaugural inductees into both the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame and the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

We celebrate excellence in sport and support disabled athletes.

OUR BELIEFS

Members believe in celebrating success across a variety of sports and utilising our networking lunches and activities to make a difference in people’s lives.  We value the importance of coming together in friendship and comradeship.

OUR MEMBERS

Membership can only be gained by introduction by a current member or by invitation, in the case of a Patrons and honorary members. Bound by a common constitution across all Clubs, the membership is limited to 40 ordinary members. Growth is met by members moving to a senior list on reaching age 65. OUR IMPACT

The Carbine Club of New Zealand has a charitable “Sir Denis Blundell Charitable Trust’. The funds raised at the Club’s lunches and our Annual Golf Tournament held in March enable funds from the Sir Denis Blundell Charitable Trust to be distributed to Paralympics New Zealand and Disability Sport Auckland to support disabled athletes to participate in sport.
